Georgia Criminal Defense Attorney Gabe Winters: A Career Dedicated to Representing the Accused
Mr. Winters began his career in criminal defense before even graduating from law school. While attending Georgia State Law, Mr. Winters was part of the team that helped secure Cory Maye’s release from a wrongful death sentence in Mississippi, and interned with Hall County and DeKalb County public defender offices. During the internships, he had the opportunity to successfully argue several constitutional issues related to criminal law. He would eventually graduate from the Georgia State University College of Law with the highest distinctions in public service.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Winters went on to work for the Houston County Public Defender’s Office. He has since worked for the Georgia Public Defenders Council and then for one of the largest criminal defense firms in Georgia for almost a decade. He has handled over 1,000 criminal matters during his career, including misdemeanors, DUIs, drug charges, and traffic violations. If you have been charged with a crime, Mr. Winters has the knowledge and experience you need to get the best result possible.
The Winters Law Difference
Many criminal defense firms task their lawyers with heavy caseloads, choosing to do business on a high-volume basis. Unfortunately, the result is that cases and clients do not get the attention they deserve. Instead, every case is handled with a formulaic approach, which means important aspects can be easily overlooked.
Mr. Winters started the firm to get away from the volume-based practice of law. At Winters Law, our approach begins with building a relationship with the client. Next, we listen to your side of the story and what is important to you. From there, we give your case our personalized attention, working tirelessly to get you the results you deserve. Whether you are facing a misdemeanor or a felony, your case is always essential and is never just another case.
Consult With a Georgia Criminal Defense Attorney Before Talking to the Prosecution
In almost every criminal case, the police and the prosecution will convince the accused that cooperation is the key to getting out of trouble. Unfortunately, this is a common tactic designed to get you to incriminate yourself. And even if they agree to reduce the charges or make some other concession, they may not offer much leniency when it comes to your sentencing. So even if you think a guilty verdict may be inevitable, you deserve your day in court or at least a fair plea offer.
The bottom line is that you shouldn’t trust the police or the prosecution to be fair. Instead, you need someone on your side—a Georgia criminal defense lawyer who knows the law and can help you understand your options.
